Les Brown (born 1945) is an American motivational speaker, former politician, and author whose electrifying stage presence and deeply personal story have made him one of the most sought-after speakers in the world. Born a twin in low-income Liberty City, Miami, and adopted at six weeks old by Mamie Brown — a single woman with limited education but an enormous heart — Les overcame being labeled "educable mentally retarded" as a child to become one of the highest-paid speakers in America.
In 1986, Les Brown was broke and sleeping on the floor of his office when he decided to pursue a career as a full-time motivational speaker. By the early 1990s, his company, Les Brown Unlimited, Inc., was earning $4 million a year from speaking tours and the sale of motivational programs.
