David R. Hawkins, M.D., Ph.D., is a nationally renowned psychiatrist, physician, researcher, spiritual teacher, lecturer and speaker on the subjects of advanced spiritual states, consciousness research, and the realization of the presence of God. He began working in psychiatry in 1952 and has published original research with Nobel Prize winners that helped revolutionize psychiatry.

Dr. Hawkins was the Founding Director of the Institute for Spiritual Research, Inc. (1983), and Founder of the Path of Devotional Nonduality (2003). He lectured widely at such places as Westminster Abbey, Oxford Forum, The University of Notre Dame, The University of Michigan, and Harvard University. In addition, he was an adviser to Catholic, Protestant, and Buddhist monasteries. He conferred with foreign governments on international diplomacy and was instrumental in resolving long–standing conflicts that were major threats to world peace.

He is featured in recent documentary films, magazines, and radio interviews for his work in the areas of health, healing, recovery, spirituality in modern life, consciousness research, and meditation. His national television appearances include The MacNeil/Lehrer News Hour, The Barbara Walters Show, The Today Show and Oprah and Friends Radio (an interview with Oprah Winfrey).Dr. Hawkins is the author of the bestselling book trilogy, Power vs. Force, (published in 17 languages), The Eye of the I, and I: Reality and Subjectivity. David received the Huxley Award, and in 1995 he was knighted by the Sovereign Order of St. John's of Jerusalem of Denmark.

He died peacefully at his home in Sedona, Arizona on September 19, 2012, at the age of 85, yet his profound messages, spiritual truth and enlightenment and growth live on in his work.
