How to Have Wealth Without a Job in Times of Uncertainty

In today’s economy, it’s a challenge to create wealth. Times have changed, and you must change with the times in order to create the wealth you want. The good news is, during the last depression, there were more millionaires created than at any other time in history. Right now you have the same opportunity.

So how do you have wealth without a job in these uncertain times?

There are three primary principles you must understand in order to succeed. The three principles in priority order are:

1. Master your mindset.
2. Know your purpose in life.
3. Find a vehicle that will express your purpose in life.

Let's look at each principle in detail.

First you must master your mindset. What is mindset?

Mindset is all about controlling your thoughts. Thinking like an entrepreneur is an absolute requirement in order to succeed. Most of us have been trained to think like an employee. Thoughts of an employee will keep you from creating the wealth that you want and desire.

Thinking like an employee will gain you only limited results. Employers pay employees to follow instructions and do what they’re told. They’re not paid to think on their own and solve problems. Although at times it may appear that an employee has some latitude to do more than is required, employees are typically kept on a short leash.

Entrepreneurs get paid to solve problems. People are willing to pay to have their problems solved, and they will pay handsomely and gladly. Being a problem solver is much different from being directed what to do and how to do it. It’s a 180-degree shift in thinking.

As we were growing up, we went to school. What were we trained to do in school?

Schools trained us to memorize information and regurgitate it during a test to show how well we remembered the information. Regurgitating information will do you no good because you have no understanding of how to apply the information solving problems for others to earn money. It is the application of the information that will allow you to become a great problem solver and, hence, a great entrepreneur.

Second, you must know what your purpose in life is. Your purpose in life is your God-given gift that no one else but you can provide others. Even if your purpose in life is similar to someone else’s, it doesn’t matter. There is a set of customers waiting for what you have to offer that only you can deliver.

Your purpose in life is what gives you the energy, persistence, and drive necessary to overcome obstacles and adversity that you’ll encounter in your journey. It’s literally the gas that fuels your vehicle. It’s what helps you get up in the morning and do what’s necessary to win.

When you’re living your life on purpose, it’s as if you could not fail!

Why do you think your purpose in life is so important to understand?

The purpose in life is the one key ingredient that most people overlook because they’re focusing on making money. Focusing on making money is great, but if this is your primary focus, you’re in big trouble.

Money is nothing more than an end result. It’s a byproduct of the effort you put forth to solving other people’s problems. If you think money is the primary thing to focus on, you will end up with much less of it than you started with. When I did this, I went six figures upside down. Is that what you want?

I think not...

When you change your mindset and combine it with your purpose in life, you literally become unstoppable, and you’ll earn more money than you ever have before.

Lastly, you must find a vehicle that expresses your purpose in life. Notice that your vehicle is the last thing on the list that you require in order to succeed. It’s important, but it is far less important than the first two elements.

Before you can experience any kind of success in any vehicle, you must first have the correct mindset. Then your vehicle must be in alignment with your purpose in life. When your vehicle expresses your purpose in life, you’re now in complete alignment to achieve success.

Warning: Most people go out and get a job or start a business because they believe they can earn a lot of money. What happens is people become dissatisfied, unmotivated, and sometimes even depressed because they have no fulfillment in what they’re doing. They also resent having to do what they don’t want to in order to earn money. When this happens, people quit doing what they must because the pain of making money becomes so great.

I’m not going to spend a lot of time on mindset and your purpose in life here. When you choose a vehicle that expresses your purpose in life, it must be a clear fit. If you believe that it may not be the best fit in any way, then avoid that particular vehicle. You most likely are looking at that vehicle focusing on the money aspect first instead of expressing your true purpose in life.

There are numerous vehicles that you can use to express your purpose in life if you allow yourself to think outside the box. Most of the time we assume our vehicle must be in alignment with our gifts and talents or what we are naturally good at doing. This may not necessarily be the case.

For instance, you could be a great artist, but if no one is willing to pay for your art, you’re going to become a skinny starving artist. I’m sure that’s not what you’re looking for, is it?

I didn’t think so...

However, you may have hidden talents or there may be a way to use your current talents in a way that you never thought of before. When you allow yourself to look beyond your obvious talents, skills, and likes, you will find a vehicle that expresses your purpose and is capable of solving other people’s problems, and people are willing to pay you handsomely for those solutions.

So, how do you figure out what vehicle could express your purpose in life?

Go out and talk to as many people as you can, and ask them the following questions:

1. Do you have a nagging problem you cannot solve?
2. What is that problem?
3. Why is solving that problem important to you?
4. How would solving that problem change the quality of your life?
5. How much would you be willing to pay to solve that problem?

Note: Before you ask these questions, make sure you let the people know that you’re not going to sell them anything. This way you’ll get quality answers.

After you’ve talked with numerous people, you’ll begin to see a pattern. Look for the common problems that you believe you could solve. You’ll also know how much people are willing to pay to have their problem solved and why.

Now ask yourself the following question:

If I were to solve (the common problem you just discovered) for others, does this express my purpose in life?

If the answer to this question is a clear and resounding “yes,” then you have your vehicle. If you get a “no” or “maybe,” it’s not for you. Look for a new problem you believe you can solve that will clearly express your purpose in life. Anything that doesn’t clearly express your purpose in life, avoid it like the plague because it’ll be like a plague to you.

Don’t give up and don’t be discouraged if you don’t find your vehicle quickly. It may take some time to truly discover a vehicle that expresses your purpose in life and is viable for making money in any economy.

It is far better to take your time than to rush into something that ultimately ends up as a disaster. The more people you talk to, the clearer the direction will be for you to succeed. This is not a get-rich-quick scheme. This is a get wealthy-for-sure method when you apply yourself and put in the effort necessary.

When I figured out the correct vehicle to use that expressed my purpose in life, everything changed. I went from being unemployed to being a millionaire in less than three years, and so can you. And best of all, you can do it in far less time than I did.
